As we do each season, we’ve submitted a field request through the City of University Park’s lottery system for UP Elementary, Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00–6:00 PM. Due to the high demand for field space in UP, we won’t know whether we’ve been awarded this time slot for a few more weeks.

If we are awarded the space, we hope to shift some of our younger teams’ Friday practices to Wednesdays—a structure many returning families are familiar with and prefer.

In the meantime, we’ll follow the current schedule as published, including Friday sessions.

If your player is unable to attend Fridays due to prior expectation of a Monday/Wednesday schedule, please let your coach know.  We understand this isn’t ideal and will do our best to be flexible while we wait on confirmation from the city.

Team Practice Policy

Attendance. HPSA teams train throughout the entire calendar year, and attendance is expected at all team practices and games.  We understand players get sick suddenly and may miss practice.  Please communicate with your coach or team manager to let them know the player will not attend at those times.  Please mark attendance in your team schedule as soon as possible when you know that your player will be unable to attend due to family vacation or a school event.  

HPISD Calendar = HPSA Calendar (mostly).   During the school year, HPSA follows the HPISD school calendar and makes every attempt to adhere to a policy that if students are out of school, practices do not take place.  While Academy-aged teams adhere closely to this rule, some conflicts may occur, particularly during and around Spring Break.  Select Teams should expect some exceptions to the policy around Spring Break, especially because their tournament and game schedules are out of HPSA’s control.

Weather-Related Issue. When any practice facility is closed due to inclement weather, all practices are cancelled.  During the hot weather, practices continue, although additional water breaks are made available and players are reminded to bring water and hydrate prior to practice.
