Technical Skills Training
HP Soccer Academy’s Technical Skills Training is available on Thursdays from June 18 – August 13, weather permitting. This training is designed to help players continue developing their technical foundation through focused skill work, including ball mastery, dribbling, passing, receiving, shooting, and 1v1 play.

Cost:
Free for HPSA players who have completed their 2026–27 registration and annual dues payment.
$30 per session for non-HPSA players or players who have not yet completed their annual dues payment.

Curriculum
Ball Control & Skills. Techniques for improving individual ball control, agility and technical ability.
Passing & Receiving. Drills involving short, long and through passes with emphasis on accuracy, timing and positioning.
Shooting Techniques. Instructions on different types of shots: volleys, chips, long-range, and techniques for precision finishing.
Crossing & Finishing. Techniques for perfecting the art of delivering accurate crosses into the box, including focused instructions on timing and angles.
Defending Fundamentals. Focus on 1v1 defending, positioning, and defensive tactics to break down attacks.
Ball Possession & Transitioning. Small-sided games and drills designed for improving ball retention, developing quick passing, and maintaining possession under pressure.
Field Game Knowledge (Positioning, Teamwork). Instruction about tactical awareness, understanding formations, and team roles during live games or match simulations.
Session Format
Warm-up (10-15 minutes)
Dynamic stretches and light ball work to prepare for the session.
Skill Work (30-40 minutes)
Focus on specific skills, progressing from drills to small-sided games.
Scrimmage/play (5-10 minutes)
Scrimmage until the end of the session.
