Thank you for your interest in HP Soccer Academy!

Thank you for registering to attend an open practice!  We appreciate you taking the time to learn more about the club to determine whether HP Soccer Academy is the right place for your child to develop further as a player and teammate.  We have been coaching local soccer players since 2004 and have achieved national success within our competitive teams.  The success of HP Soccer Academy teams will increase even more in the coming years, and we would love for your player to be a part of it.

2026-27 Tryouts

New players are welcome and encouraged to begin attending practices (which are used as tryouts for new players) immediately, even if they missed the tryout event and even before official invitations are sent.

  • Practice schedules are updated on our homepage.
  • Ages: The youngest player birthdate accepted is July 31, 2020.
  • Please bring: shin guards, cleats, water, and a soccer ball.
  • What to expect: At tryouts, your player will join the team, meet the coach, and be evaluated on effort, sportsmanship, and skill level.

This is a great opportunity for players to become comfortable with coaches, teammates, and the HPSA environment as we transition into the summer months.

Invitation Timeline
  • Academy Players (players born between 2020–2017) will begin to receive invitations the week of May 18.
  • Competitive Teams (players born before August 1, 2016) will receive invitations beginning July 1.

If you have any questions about placement, schedules, or next steps, please do not hesitate to reach out.  We are excited to welcome your family to HPSA.  Please contact us with any questions at [email protected]

Commitment

Please note that our teams require full participation in practices and games. We practice twice a week and play year-round and participate in league play during the fall, winter and spring seasons.  All teams will have games during the second weekend of Spring Break every year.  Tournaments take place during holiday weekends, including but not limited to Labor Day, Easter, Mother’s Day and Memorial Day.  Player attendance at each practice, game and tournament ensures players develop in a competitive, supportive environment.

Parents and Siblings

When attending a tryout, plan to arrive at least 10 minutes early.  Parents may watch the tryout, but they are not allowed on the field.  Siblings are also not permitted on the field or in any other areas wherein the practice is taking place.  Parents may be asked to leave if siblings become a distraction to the coach or players.  All team selections are made by HPSA coaches.

Making the Team

While we allow for age groups to have more than one team, we do cap team sizes to make sure every player has enough playing time and a good developmental environment.  Because of that, and because our mission is to prepare as many local players as possible to compete at the middle school and high school levels, we often form multiple teams in an age group.

Players are evaluated and placed on teams according to their current developmental level.  Some are ready for a more competitive team right away, while others may start on a different roster and work toward moving up in the future.  Our goal is to make sure every player in our community who wants to participate has a place in the program.  Therefore, tryouts are about placement, not exclusion.

It is also worth noting that US Youth Soccer, US Club Soccer, and AYSO are all switching back to a school-year-based age group system beginning in the 2026–27 season.  Players will be grouped by school year (August 1 to July 31) instead of birth year.  This change is designed to align players with their classmates and strengthen participation and social cohesion in youth soccer.  That transition could greatly impact team structures this coming year, and it’s another reason why having multiple teams in each age group is an asset.  It gives us flexibility to honor our mission while also adapting to broader changes in youth soccer.

All of these things play directly into the longevity and mission of the club: providing stability, development opportunities, and pathways for every player in our community.

Invite Friends

If you invite friends, please inform them that they must complete the New Player Registration Form on our homepage prior to attending a tryout or practice. The online registration form allows players to attend future events and receive club communications.  You only need to complete the registration form once per player to be registered with the club.
